Magic Wand Transparency Tool
Click any area to erase that colour region. Increase tolerance to remove more similar shades at once.
Upload or drop a PNG here
Tip: Low tolerance = only very similar colours removed. High tolerance = broader colour range removed.
How to remove a background
- Upload a PNG image.
- Click on the background. The spot you clicked, and every connected pixel of a similar colour, becomes transparent.
- Keep clicking to clear other patches, such as gaps inside letters or corners the first click missed.
- Use Undo to step back or Reset to start again, then press Download PNG.
Using the tolerance slider
Tolerance sets how different a colour can be from the pixel you clicked and still be removed. It runs from 1 to 120 and starts at 30. A low setting removes only near-identical colours, which protects the edges of your subject. A higher setting copes with soft shadows, gradients and slightly uneven backgrounds, but push it too far and it starts eating into the subject. If a click takes too much, undo it, lower the tolerance and try again.
What it works best on
This is a colour-based magic wand, not AI. It does a clean, predictable job on logos, icons, signatures, product shots on plain white and graphics with a solid background. It struggles with busy photo backgrounds or hair, where the subject and the background share colours.
Because it only removes connected areas, the same colour elsewhere in the picture is left alone unless you click on it too. Only PNG files are accepted, so convert other formats first with the image converter.
