How to pull a colour palette from an image
- Upload an image or drop it onto the page.
- Choose how many colours you want, from 3 to 10. It starts at 6.
- Click any colour to copy its hex code.
How the colours are chosen
The image is scaled down to a working size, then similar colours are grouped together and averaged. The groups that cover the most of the picture become your palette, so the result reflects what dominates the image rather than every stray pixel. A small accent colour may not make the cut. If you need it, raise the number of colours.
Ways to use it
It is a quick way to build a colour scheme from a photo that already feels right, whether that is a product shot, a shopfront or a landscape. It also helps you match a flyer, a social post or a website to an existing logo, choose text and button colours for a presentation, or check how a picture will sit next to your own branding.
Once you have a palette, test pairs of colours in the colour converter and contrast checker to make sure any text you put on them stays readable, particularly at small sizes.
