How to make a collage or sprite sheet
- Upload several images at once, or drop them onto the page.
- Set the number of columns, or leave it on Auto for a roughly square grid.
- Choose a cell size in pixels. Each image is scaled to fit inside its cell without being stretched or cropped.
- Set the gap between cells, from 0 to 40 pixels, and pick a background colour.
- Press Download PNG.
Collage or sprite sheet?
They are the same grid used in two different ways. A collage usually has a gap and a background colour, so several photos can be shared as one picture: a spread of dishes, a before and after, or the best shots from an event.
A sprite sheet is for games and websites. Set the gap to 0 and every image sits at a predictable position that code can cut back out. Icons and animation frames are the usual examples.
Good to know
The cell size starts at a sensible value worked out from the images you upload, between 80 and 400 pixels. The finished grid is saved as a PNG, which keeps edges and text sharp, with your chosen colour filling the gaps. Big grids of large cells make big files, so if the result needs to be smaller, reduce the cell size or pass it through the image compressor.
