How to make a meme

1. Upload an image or drop it onto the page.
2. Type your top text and bottom text. Either can be left empty.
3. Adjust the text size with the slider, from 8 to 120 pixels.
4. Press Download PNG to save the finished picture.

The classic look

The text is set in capitals in a bold, condensed Impact-style font, white with a black outline. That combination stays readable on light and dark pictures alike, which is why it became the standard. Long captions wrap onto extra lines automatically. Top text grows downwards from the top edge and bottom text grows upwards from the bottom, so neither runs off the image.

Captions that work

Short beats clever. A few words at the top set up the joke and a few at the bottom land it. If the text starts covering faces or the important part of the picture, bring the size down, or crop the image first with the image cropper to leave more room above and below.

Only use pictures you have the right to use, especially for anything a business posts. Your own photos are always the safest choice, and a familiar scene from your own shop, kitchen or office often gets a bigger reaction than a stock meme template.
