Analytics on this website

VSL Media uses privacy-conscious website analytics to understand aggregated traffic, popular pages, referring sites and website performance. Our current analytics service is Cloudflare Web Analytics.

Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies, local storage or similar client-side identifiers for analytics, and it does not fingerprint or track individual visitors. Because the current analytics setup does not store information on, or retrieve information from, your device, it does not require an analytics-cookie choice.

Advertising on the free tools pages

The free tools at vslmedia.co.uk/tools show adverts through Google AdSense. The rest of the website does not show adverts.

On those pages, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve adverts, limit how often you see the same one, measure how adverts perform and prevent fraud. Depending on your settings, this can include personalised adverts based on your visits to this and other websites. Google explains how it uses information from websites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can turn off personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings. The tools themselves do not upload the text you type or the files you open: that processing happens in your browser.

Essential technology

The hosting, security or content-delivery provider may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver pages, balance traffic, prevent abuse, diagnose faults or protect the service. These are used only where required for the service or its security.

Analytics details

• Provider: Cloudflare Web Analytics.
• Purpose: aggregated page-use and performance statistics used to understand and improve the website.
• Client-side storage: no analytics cookies, local storage or similar persistent identifiers.
• Individual tracking: no analytics visitor profiles, cross-site tracking or behavioural advertising.
• Retention: Cloudflare states that unsampled data is retained for seven days, after which reporting uses aggregated and sampled information; dashboard reporting is available for up to six months.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on a device. Similar technologies can store or access information in other ways. Some are necessary for a requested online service; others, including many conventional analytics and advertising technologies, require an appropriate choice or consent.

If these technologies change

If VSL Media adds analytics, advertising, embedded media, live chat or another feature that stores or accesses non-essential information on your device, we will update this notice. We will not repurpose analytics information for advertising or individual profiling.

Your browser controls

Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies. Blocking essential technologies may affect how some websites work. Consult your browser’s help pages for instructions.
